Lake Lure Wedding at the Riverside Event Center

Lauren and Andrew got married in September in Lake Lure, North Carolina at the Riverside Event Center. It was my first time ever traveling to North Carolina and being in the mountains. Talk about breathtaking!

Their wedding weekend truly began with an amazing rehearsal the day prior at an Italian restaurant called La Strada. They were surrounded by their closest family and friends, and it was one of the sweetest experiences in my career to be so loved and welcomed by their families. We laughed over delicious food and wine as I documented the rehearsal. It was full of all the sweet hugs, happy tears, and a moving speech by the father of the groom which had EVERY single eye in the room uncontrollably watery. Who was cutting onions?!

For those who don’t know, Lake Lure is where a large part of the film Dirty Dancing was filmed. I’m a huge Patrick Swayze and Dirty Dancing fan so it was an amazing experience to be in the town where it was filmed. We even went to Morse Park for portraits which is where the lake scene with Johnny (Patrick) and Baby (Jennifer Gray) took place.

Anyways, this is about Lauren and Andrew’s love story.

On the day of, Lauren and her bridesmaids were already getting ready when I arrived. They each had 8 people in their wedding party which was so much fun.

Lauren’s mom helped her into her dress and then she had a first look with her sisters, then her bridal party.

I ran over to Andrew, his dad and the rest of the guys for their getting ready portraits. They were in an incredible wood cabin Air BnB overlooking the Lake Lure Flowering Bridge and the mountains.

Shortly after, Lauren, Andrew and I met at the Lake Low Flowering bridge for their first look. They exchanged their vows privately with the gorgeous lake and mountains in the background.

The rest of the day and evening was filled with so much laughter. Both Lauren and Andrew’s families made me feel so loved and welcome.

I’d also like to give special shout-out to the owners of the Riverside Event Center. They were such amazing hosts and so attentive to the couple and events of the day. Their attentiveness and kindness made working with them such a pleasure.

Throughout the evening, DJ Gio really cranked up the music and we had a BLAST. I am absolutely the photographer who will dance at your wedding and drop it when Get Low comes on… and I most surely did that day LOL.
