This guide serves as some help in understanding what colors, prints and fabrics photograph well. Also know that I am here to help you and offer advice if you would like to share with me what you are wearing beforehand.
With all that said, the number one thing to remember is I want you to feel comfortable in what you wear! You should look and feel like yourself.
Neutral Colors
Stick to soft, muted tones like whites, off-whites, creams, beiges, tans, light grays, and pastels.
Avoid overly bold or neon colors, as they can clash with natural backgrounds and feel dated over time.
Textures
Clothing with textures like lace, linen, knits, or chiffon add depth and interest to your photos.
Layering textures (e.g., pairing a chunky knit cardigan over a flowy dress) adds a cozy, romantic vibe.
Silhouettes
For women: Flowy maxi dresses, wrap dresses, or skirts paired with fitted tops are flattering and photograph well.
For men: Well-fitted chinos or slacks with a button-down shirt or a simple knit sweater work wonderfully. If you're going for a more elevated look, add a blazer!
Patterns
Subtle, minimal patterns (like a delicate floral or small stripes) are fine, but avoid anything too busy or distracting.
If one partner does opt or a pattern, the other should wear a solid color to balance the look.
Accessories
Dainty jewelry like simple gold or silver necklaces, bracelets, or earrings add elegance without overwhelming the look.
In cooler weather, adding a hat, scarf or layered cardigan are beautiful additions to your outfit.
For men, a classic watch or a pocket square can add a sophisticated touch.
